This is a new adventure for me. I decided to learn how to sew in May of 2023. It has turned into a practice that gives me a lot of delight and may seem a bit of a departure from my other work.

I wanted to share this here because it is my way of creating so that I can sustain my practice and also to sell the work with the idea that each project will raise money for social justice organizations.

The creatures in these photos were commissions. The photos really have become a way of story telling. These monsters and their stories are also filling a gap for me as a now disabled person. I can't get out like I once could because the medications that I take to keep my multiple sceloris from accelerating, also means that I have to be very careful because my immune system is quite compromised. The symptoms of my MS also have a big limiting impact on my ability to get out in the world in the way that I used to. And so the monsters are up to things that my queer heart loves but my disabled body cannot really be up for all that often. They all have names and backstories for me. But I also now that they go on to have names and stories for the folks who purchase them.

I am working on a simple website that will allow folks to put downpayment on commissions. I will post that web address as soon as it is completed. 20% of the money earned is donated to causes. Currently donations have been made to AZTYPO which is an organization that helps families of trans and non-binary youth in AZ.

Currently, I am hosting an auction and fundraiser for The United Nations Relief Workers Association for Palestinian Refugees. You can donate and bid at new.bidding.owl.com/Ariiamnotawatermelon
